- Abstract

- Summary
Coaches will have to introduce their details and go through a self-evaluation and assessment process in which their coaching competencies, skills and knowledge will be tested in order to provide a profile for the platform. Through a gap analysis procedure, the system will then develop a series of competencies that this particular coach needs to improve matched together with the specific contents that need to be covered. The platform will provide the coach with the exact type (i.e. articles, video presentations, e-learnings, clips, tasks, etc.) and location of the identified resources in the ITF’s websites. The coach will have to go through the designated resources and complete them accordingly. Once this is achieved, the coach will be able to complete the assessment and re-evaluate their new competencies and skills. This will provide a new set of resources to continue the development and in turn update the coach’s profile.
The project of MyTennisiCoach allows the ITF to provide coaches not only with information but, more importantly, with the possibility of having an individualised educational tool that will help them to improve in the areas they really need. To our understanding this crucial feature makes this project unique in the sports world and provides a resource which can improve the quality of coaches’ education at the same time that the number of courses’ education hours are increased without the rental of a room or tutor and that enables a coach to study in there own time. This resource implies a tailor-made individual alternative for those coaches who want to commit to a personal educational process. It will also provide national associations with a tool to implement the professional development programme or life-long-learning projects for those coaches already certified that wish to pursue with their education.
