The ITF would like to take this opportunity to confirm that the situation in Port Ghalib, Egypt, remains very stable. In the past 6 months the ITF have successfully held a number of events in Egypt including the Fed Cup Zonal event for Euro Africa (May), the African Davis Cup group 3 (July), the African Qualifying of the Junior Davis Cup and Fed Cup (June) as well as 4 Junior ITF 18 and under World Ranking events. All of these events took place in Cairo took in July and September with no problems identified and one more has taken place in early October, also in Cairo with no reported problems. Throughout the continued demonstrations in Egypt in 2011, Port Ghalib was unaffected and has continued throughout that time to operate as a very safe tourist destination.
We can confirm therefore that the ITF Worldwide Coaches Conference will proceed as planned in Port Ghalib, Egypt from November 20-24th and we are delighted that over 430 coaches have already enrolled.
