
CALL FOR PAPERS - APPLIED/ SCIENTIFIC SESSIONS INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS SUBMITTING ABSTRACTS
The ITF is calling for the submission of abstracts to be presented at The BNP Paribas ITF Worldwide Coaches Conference to be held in Port Ghalib, Egypt from 20 November – 24 November 2011. Selected abstracts will be accepted for either workshop presentations or for poster presentations. Poster presentations can be either electronic or traditional display format. Preference will be given to original works that have not been presented elsewhere.
The conference will deal with issues related to professional tennis coaching, applied sport science for top coaching, high-level player development and coaches' education across four age groups: 10 and under (Building phase), 11-14 years (Development phase), 15-18 years (Junior phase) and 19-23 years (Transition to Professional Phase).
Abstract submissions should, where possible, adhere to one specific phase, or span all of the above phases of "Long-term Development of a High Performance Player".
WORKSHOP PRESENTATIONS: The duration of each workshop presentation will be either 20 or 30 minutes maximum including time for questions. You will be notified of the duration of your presentation, either 20 or 30 minutes, once your proposal is accepted.
POSTER PRESENTATIONS: The contributions will be displayed on site as either electronic digital displays, or traditional hard copy poster format.
Abstracts should encompass different areas of sport science as applied to tennis: Psychology, Methodology and Training Systems, Sports Medicine and Physiology, Nutrition, Biomechanics and Technical Analysis, Physical Conditioning, Working with Disabled players, Tactics and Match Charting.
PREPARATION OF MANUSCRIPT: The proceedings will be available on the internet and as a CD, and will include all the abstracts presented at the Conference. For the preparation of the manuscript please adhere to the instructions below:
Language: Manuscripts should be in English. Length: Size of the box provided in the abstract form below (inclusive of any diagrams and/or photos). Page size: A4 (210 × 297 mm). Text: Fully (left and right) justified. Text Font: Arial, 10 pt. Spacing: Single line spacing and 0 pt spacing before and after paragraphs, but 1 line before and after sections. Title of the paper: In bold, centred, font size 12 pt. In capitals only the first word, rest of the title in lower case.
Authors’ names and affiliations: Font size 10 pt., not bold, centred and should conform to the following style: Miguel Crespo1 and Alberto Riba2 1International Tennis Federation, Roehampton, UK 2 Royal Spanish Tennis Federation, Barcelona, Spain
Structure: Abstracts should have the following structure as far as possible: Introduction (rationale for the research and citing the primary literature sources); Methods (research design, data collection and analysis); Results and Discussion (results and comparison with other research), Conclusion (implications and applications of the work) and References.
References: Font size 8 pt., listed alphabetically and should conform to the following style (do not leave blank lines between references). A maximum of 5 references is suggested:

SUBMISSION: Abstracts should be submitted electronically using the official abstract submission web page of The BNP Paribas ITF Worldwide Coaches Conference. The online submission will require authors to complete details with regard to the “Assignment of Copyright” and the General Submission Details. Submission deadline is 15th July 2011.
REFEREEING AND EDITING: Refereeing will take place and will assess both academic quality and also the standard of English. Authors will be informed of their acceptance or otherwise. If modification is deemed necessary, final submission of revised abstracts must be made by 30th July 2011.
REGISTRATION: Presenters need to register as a delegate to present. No abstracts will be included if they are not presented on-site. Only one presenter per paper will be accepted at the Conference.
